The Haunted Bar That’s Been Around Since Before Washington Was Even A State

The Brick Saloon in Roslyn, built in 1889, is a historic and possibly haunted bar known for its rustic charm and paranormal activity.

If you've ever spent time in Roslyn, you've probably spotted The Brick Saloon at 100 West Pennsylvania Avenue. And while it's clear at first glance that this building has a lot of history, most don't know it's as old as the state itself... and even fewer know it's haunted.

The Brick was built in 1889, the same year Washington became a state.

It was rebuilt in 1898 using 45,000 bricks, hence its name.

Inside you'll find a cozy, rustic space, and a shining 100-year-old back bar from England.

And according to local legend, that's not all you might see.

Both the current manager and owner and the former owner of The Brick have experienced paranormal activity here.

Employees and patrons alike have spotted a little girl and a cowboy, and there's a piano that sometimes plays by itself.

One former bartender got so freaked out by the paranormal activity that he quit on the spot, according to the current owner.

While all activity seems to indicate the local spirits are friendly, the bartender wasn't taking his chances.

Whether or not this historic saloon is actually haunted, it's definitely a great place to enjoy a cold beer and a hot meal.

The Brick is open daily at 11:30 a.m. (11 on weekends), and the menu consists of all your favorite bar foods.

Haunted or not, The Brick Saloon is charming and delightful. When you go, make sure you take plenty of time to explore Roslyn.
