Here in Virginia, we have access to just about every type of dining experience. From historical pubs to themed diners and just about everything in between, there’s something for every palate. But there’s a hidden gem in Leesburg that relatively few know about. Döner Bistro is an authentic German food-truck-turned-restaurant. So if you thought you’d need to travel across the Atlantic to find yourself in a biergarten, we’ve got news for you. Here’s more on this whimsical and wonderful dining spots in Virginia:

Döner Bistro is tucked away on a street corner in Leesburg, Virginia.

The exact location of this spot is 202 Harrison St

Leesburg, VA 20178.

The story behind this fantastic European spot is as charming as the restaurant itself.

Upon realizing there were very few places to enjoy the authentic German fast-food known as Döner, a couple bought a van and started selling these tasty kebab sandwiches around town. This business was widely successful, so the couple established a more permanent spot in Leesburg.

Upon visiting Döner Bistro, you’ll immediately notice two things: the colorful, whimsical decor and the tantalizing scent of spices and cooked meat.

You can walk right up to the counter, order your meal, and choose either to sit in the indoor dining room or the patio outside. As you look around, notice all the quirky details that make this spot such a gem: the chandelier, colorful decor, and all sorts of unique German paraphernalia.

You won't be surprised to find that the food is authentic and delicious.

The specialty here is the Döner Kebab (translation "turning meat"), which is actually a traditional Turkish dish. In Germany, the meat is served in flatbread with salad and a special sauce. Made-to-order without any preservatives, the meat at Döner Bistro is especially delicious. It's all about the spices. Treat yourself to an order of fries and your drink of choice.

Another popular menu item is the schnitzel sandwich served on freshly baked pretzel bread.

Don't forget the side order of sauerkraut!

And, of course, what would this German dining experience be without a fine selection of beer?

For those interested in drinking, there are plenty of draught beers to choose from. Otherwise, the spot has delicious organic lemonade that pairs perfectly with the menu.

The restaurant may be tiny, but there’s a charming outdoor seating area to accommodate more.

This biergarten often features live musicians and is a wonderful place to spend some time when the weather is nice.
