When I’m on the hunt for a unique dining experience, a waterfront steakhouse in Texas never disappoints. Brenner’s on the Bayou in Houston is situated directly on the gorgeous Buffalo Bayou, allowing guests to take in magnificent views while enjoying a gourmet meal.
I’m usually of the opinion that small-town steakhouses usurp big-city ones, but Brenner’s on the Bayou in Houston is an exception. Overlooking the beautiful Buffalo Bayou, this upscale eatery is perfect for your next romantic date night or family dinner.
Housed in a historic lodge, the restaurant opened in 2007 and has received numerous awards and accolades over the years. Between the rustic, woodsy interior, the colorful outdoor gardens, and the incredible food, Brenner’s provides a dining experience that is truly unmatched.
Perhaps you’ll start with a lump crab cake or bang bang shrimp appetizer, then move on to the main course. Whether you’re in the mood for an American Wagyu filet mignon or a USDA Prime bone-in ribeye, there’s a perfect steak for every palate. Don’t forget the scrumptious steak toppers like truffle butter or a lobster tail!
If steak isn’t your speed, rest assured nobody goes hungry at Brenner’s. Other entrees include seafood selections like Gulf red snapper and miso-glazed sea bass, plus stuffed quail, roasted chicken, and more.
The sides are equally as tasty as the mains, with options ranging from caramelized Brussels sprouts to pecan goat cheese glazed carrots. And let’s not forget about dessert! Soufflé, apple strudel, and 12-layer chocolate cake are just a few of the decadent choices.
What I love most about Brenner’s is the outdoor seating area. An elevated balcony sits directly above the water, so you can enjoy tranquil views of the tree-lined bayou while you eat.
Brenner’s also has an on-site bar, Blue Bar, serving cocktails, wine, craft beer, and unique pub grub. Make sure you stroll through the gardens before you leave!
Visit the Brenner’s website or the Brenner’s Facebook page for more information, including current hours and a full menu.
