The Unassuming Restaurant In Texas That Serves The Best Comfort Food You’ll Ever Taste
Discover the best hiking trails in the Pacific Northwest, known for their stunning scenic views and diverse landscapes.
Gas stations - quite possibly the most common type of building, so much so that we hardly even notice when we pass them. We might go in and grab a soda and a bag of chips to stave off hunger while road tripping, but venturing toward the hot food area is an unwritten sin of sorts. That's why Chef Point Cafe in Watauga is such an anomaly. It's a gas-station-turned-restaurant, but you'll find more than just sandwiches and cold pizza here. It serves gourmet meals like Maple Leaf Duck and Lobster Mac and Cheese that will leave you coming back for more.
It doesn't get much more unassuming than a gas station. Instead of sketchy tacos that are usually cold and barely edible, you'll find some of the fanciest food around at Chef Point.
Basically everything is comfort food in some shape or form. Whether that's a big, juicy bacon cheeseburger that you can barely fit your mouth around...
...a decadent, sweet-and-salty brunch of chicken and waffles...
...or a heaping bowl of lobster mac and cheese swimming in a creamy sauce is a decision totally up to you.
And even if it is more so for looks rather than taste, you can't leave without trying a "Bloody Best Bloody Mary" topped with fried chicken, a Nolan Ryan slider, waffle fries, grilled shrimp, a jalapeno, a pickle spear, and bacon.
Skipping dessert would be a mortal sin. The bread pudding is an absolute must - they even give out the recipe here after so many people have asked for it!
The restaurant was even featured on "Diners, Drive-Ins, and Dives" where Guy Fieri tried this Maple Leaf Duck over angel hair pasta. Yum!
