The Delightful Tennessee Restaurant That Serves Some Of The Best Southern Cuisine In The Nation
East Tennessee tends to get a lot of attention for its iconic mountains and gorgeous scenery, but what about its restaurants? Poor Knoxville seems to get slaughtered by all the attention Memphis and Nashville are given, and we just don't understand why. Have you been to East Tennessee?! They eat well out there, folks, and one of our favorite places to indulge is the newly opened Farmacy.
Newly opened in west Knoxville, Farmacy promises, "fresh made southern favorites with a bright and modern twist." With a promise like that, you know you're in for a treat. The hospitality at the Farmacy (farmacy, per their branding) is top notch, which only serves to elevate the experience.
Weekday specials include homey goodness like classic meatloaf, pot roast, chicken pot pie and roasted chicken. Round out your meal with shrimp and grits or buttermilk potato salad. Maybe even go crazy and try their white cheddar-chipotle mac?
The fun and quirky atmosphere pays homage to Farmacy's southern roots and its main audience: proud east Tennesseans. We have a feeling their dining room is full of some fun people!
Ah, yes. Hot chicken. Made famous by Nashville but truly Tennessean, Farmacy serves up a crispy, crunchy serving that will make your mouth tingle in the best way possible.
There's even a solid plug for our southern sister, New Orleans, with their perfectly fried beignets, coiffed with powdered sugar.
It doesn't get better than chicken and waffles, and we can't get over this dreamy plate of maple syrup drenched goodness.
When you order coffee, you'll have a freshly brewed cup from local roaster, City House Roasters Coffee Company. Everything here gives a nod back to the Volunteer State, and it's a breath of fresh air from our current culture of drive-thrus and chain restaurants.
You can visit (and indulge!) for yourself at 9430 South Northshore Drive in Knoxville. Tennessee. They're open and slingin' southern fare from 10am to 4pm every single day. Enjoy!
