Vienna Bakery is family owned and operated, and it has remained in the care of the same family since its opening.
The grandfather of the current owner, Joe Balasco, opened the bakery after moving to Rhode Island from Naples, Italy.
The original recipes are still used, which means you'll find plenty of delicious European pastries on the menu.
Cannolis, Sfogliatelli, Eclairs... if it's European, it's probably here.
The shop makes plenty of American treats as well, like donuts and pies...
... but what's truly incredible here are the Danish pastries.
Danish pastries consist of flaky buttery pastry filled with fruit or cream cheese, and when they're made well (like they are here), they'r marvelous.
Order a full-sized Danish pastry, or get a dozen minis and share (or not).
They're baked fresh daily, and they're downright addictive.
Vienna Bakery is open Tuesday - Sunday from 7:30 a.m. - 6 p.m.
If you come at lunchtime from Tuesday - Thursday, you can enjoy a tasty calzone, and they always have pizza by the slice. But nothing tops the decadent Danish pastries.
