There’s A Brand New Bakery Inside This Historic General Store Building In Rhode Island

Here in Rhode Island, it's always wonderful to see what happens when old and new combine. Many of our oldest historic buildings are now serving as hotels, restaurants, and shops, something bound to happen in one of the nation's oldest states. Recently, Groundswell Cafe + Bakery opened in the building of a historic general store in Tiverton, and visiting is an absolute pleasure.

Groundswell Cafe + Bakery is located inside a landmark building known as the A.P. White General Store.

The general store opened in 1876 and was part of the Tiverton community for decades. These days, it's serving a sweeter purpose.

The Historic Tiverton Four Corners area is always a pleasure to explore.

Groundswell Garden + Home is also located on the property, offering kitchen accessories, planters, and indoor and outdoor decor.

The cafe and bakery menu was inspired by the owners' European travels.

The bread is baked from scratch, all ingredients are sourced locally, and everything is divine.

No matter what time of day it is, you really can't go wrong with coffee and pastries.

The coffee menu is served all day, and it's delightful.

Groundwell also has a full breakfast and lunch menu, serving everything from quiche to hearty sandwiches.

There's an entire section of the menu dedicated to soup and salad for those craving a nutritious meal.

Groundswell Cafe + Bakery is a wonderful addition to the Groundswell Garden + Home property.

The cafe is open Tuesday - Sunday from 7 a.m. - 4 p.m.
