Fortnight Is A Beautiful Wine Lounge In Rhode Island That’s A Great Place To Unwind

Fortnight Wine Bar in Rhode Island offers a unique, cooperative-run experience with a focus on natural wines and zero food waste.

Who doesn't enjoy savoring a nice glass of wine after a long day of work (or better yet, on a Saturday afternoon)? Rhode Island has plenty of great wine bars, but nothing quite compares to the experience you'll get at Fortnight. This laid back lounge is a local favorite for a reason.

Fortnight Wine Bar opened in 2016 as an experimental space driven by a love of all things delicious.

The bar is run co-operative style. This means everyone woking behind the bar is an owner, and every owner works behind the bar.

You might not recognize a good portion of the wine list here, even if you're wine savvy.

The focus is on world class, naturally and biodynamically produced wines made with minimal chemical and technological interference.

But even if you're not a wine drinker, you can enjoy some fantastic libations here.

Fortnight has a wonderful beer selection (mostly from small batch producers) and a full bar for those who prefer cocktails.

Although the food menu is small, it's quite tasty.

The Fortnight team is dedicated to producing less food waste, so they focus on foods that get better with time, like pickles and brines, braises, and smokes. That way, they throw less food away and can keep their prices as low as possible.

So what is a menu like when the goal of zero food waste is kept in mind? Amazing, as it tuns out.

On any given day, you'll see charcuterie, stews, hearty entrees, and creative cuisine on the lineup. And of course, there's a wine to pair with it all.

Needless to say, this is a fantastic date night spot.

It's cozy, dark, and intimate, but it's also laid back and casual. The owners remind guests that there's no need to dress up to drink here, especially since the wine, beer, and food is sourced from people who spend most of their time in a field somewhere covered in dirt

Fortnight is open daily from 4:00 p.m. until 1 a.m.

Come see why the people of Providence are so smitten with this spot.
