You’ll Love Everything About This Classic Tavern In Pittsburgh

Next time you've got time to kill before or after a Pirates or a Steelers game or after a show in the Cultural District, take a stroll to this classic tavern in Pittsburgh. Go for the delicious food. Go for the live entertainment. Or, just go to discover why this historic tavern has been called the friendliest in Pittsburgh.

Park House's story began at the tail end of the 1800's. James Marshall, the warden of the Allegheny County Jail at the time, commissioned the construction of the building. He and his family lived upstairs while...

The downstairs, where the Park House resides, housed a number of businesses over the years, including a bakery during prohibition.

With the end of prohibition, new owners applied for and received an alcohol permit and Park House, a traditional bar, was born.

But, since Zamir Zahavi took over the reins, Park House has become the place to go to kick back, relax, eat, listen to live music, and watch the biggest sporting events on TV.

Park Place regularly hosts bands and musicians. Wednesday nights feature Shelf Life String Band, kicking off a bluegrass jam at 9 p.m. Friday nights boast live acoustic music by bands from Pittsburgh and beyond.

You'll find plenty more to do as well. Play darts. Or, visit on the last Tuesday of each month for Park House's adult coloring night.

Of course, a visit to Park House, a non-smoking tavern, wouldn't be complete without a drink and some delicious food.

Park House boasts such popular menu items as falafels, gyros, burgers, and hummus.

Stop by Park House Monday from 5 p.m. to midnight, Tuesday through Thursday from 5 p.m. to 1 a.m., and Friday and Saturday from 5 p.m. to 2 a.m.
