The Restaurant In Philadelphia That Serves Grilled Cheese To Die For
Reading Terminal Market is the best food market in the country. From Tommy DiNic's to Termini Brothers, the best of Philly can all be found here. However, the big names often overshadow some other vendors, and if you've been sticking to your favorites for the past decade, it's time to branch out and try a small stand hidden in the back that makes the best grilled cheese in Philadelphia.
Meltkraft by Valley Shepherd Creamery is located in the way, way back of Reading Terminal Market.
Using fresh, local, farm-made cheese, Meltkraft has quickly become synonymous with the best grilled cheese in Philadelphia.
They keep a regular menu of classics- to the unbelievable Valley Thunder.
You can be sure the ingredients in your grilled cheese are as fresh as possible! Each cheese is handmade and aged either at Reading Terminal Market, or on their Long Valley, NJ farm.
The real treat comes in trying their rotating specials.
It's incredible what Meltkraft comes up with! From seasonal themed sandwiches to pop-culture references, you'll find a unique sandwich whenever you stop by.
Sandwiches come with homemade kettle chips that are salty and crispy perfection.
Pictured above is their "Classic" grilled cheese, featuring their Valley Thunder Sharp Cheddar, Somerset Gruyere, Melter Skelter Raclette on local bread.
And when I say they can be creative, I'm not kidding!
Earlier this summer, they featured a hawaiian grilled cheese! Loaded with kālua pig, pineapple salsa, and sharp cheddar on brioche... it was then grilled in bacon fat! Mouthwatering is too mild of a word.
Of course, Meltkraft by Valley Shepherd Creamery also sells the Creamery's cheeses!
Take home their Valley Thunder Cheddar or a more creative Hot Pepper Jawn.
Even if you stop by on a very busy day, the best grilled cheese in Philly is worth the wait.
You'll find Meltkraft in Reading Terminal Market, located at 51 N 12th St.,
Philadelphia, PA.
And now if you'll excuse me... I'm going to stuff my face with some cheesy goodness, and then maybe go for a nice hike in Philadelphia to walk off all of those calories.
