When I visit Philadelphia, it's always at least partially to go on an epic food tour. This city is packed with one of the most diverse food scenes in the country, from cheesesteaks to Chinatown and so much more. And if I want a taste of everything under one roof, there's no better place to visit than Reading Terminal Market. This massive food hall, one of the best in the country, is located only minutes from Jefferson Station. It's got everything from grocery shopping to high-end dining to fast-casual eateries, and some of the best cheap eats in the entire city. But there's one place I visit every time I'm there because how can anyone turn down the best corn dogs in Pennsylvania?
Reading Terminal Market is a foodie's paradise, a massive indoor food hall with countless stands selling both groceries and prepared meals. Many top restaurants in the city have outposts here, and you can dine on just about anything you desire. Some of my favorites include Sang Kee Peking Duck House's noodle soups, the various Penn Dutch Amish stands for BBQ chicken and fresh-pressed juices, and Careda's Caribbean Cuisine for goat curry.
But there's one spot here that always makes my first stop - Fox & Sons Fancy Corn Dogs. This stand offering upgraded fair foods is delicious, and one of the best buys in the market.
Fox & Sons sets itself apart for its unique variety of dogs, including vegan dogs and batter. They're very flexible; as someone with dairy allergies, I always ask for an all-beef dog with vegan batter. Standard dogs are less than $7, and specialty dogs like the Korean-style or cheddar jalapeno are less than $8. An order of three classics is only $16, perfect for a group.
The only items here that are more than $10 are some of the loaded cheese curds and fries, but those are perfect for sharing. A visit here feels exactly like a visit to the county fair but upgraded with some seriously delicious flavors.
Have you visited Reading Terminal Market and tried the best corn dogs in Pennsylvania? Share this article with a friend, and design your own eating tour by checking out the Reading Terminal Market website! You can also see the full menu of upgraded fair foods on the Fox & Sons website. If you're up for a longer sojourn in Philly for some incredible food, head over to Zahav, one of the most acclaimed restaurants in the northeast. And if you're spending the night in Philadelphia, why not check into the Canopy by Hilton Philadelphia Center City, located only minutes from Reading Terminal Market?
