Order Crave-Worthy Street Food At Lottie & Zula’s, A New Walk-Up Window In Oregon

We're talking mouthwatering, perfectly crafted sandwiches that are totally next level. Lottie & Zula's is the new kid on the block in Portland, Oregon.

It's basically a walk-up deli, where you can order the most decadent, mouthwatering sandwiches (aka, the original street food!).

Lottie & Zula's is open for breakfast and lunch daily. (And yes, they do have water and dog treats for the pups in tow.)

Their breakfast sandwiches will have you excited to get out of bed in the morning.

The "Buzzards Bay" is your classic egg-and-cheese sandwich, but it doesn't feel basic at all. In fact, it may just be the best breakfast sandwich you've ever had.

All of the sandwiches here have an interesting name and backstory, like "My Guy Fred" and "le Moby." The latter is a vegetarian 'wich, named for the famously vegan singer.

Sibling-owners John-Fletcher Halyburton and Emily Peterson wanted the names to tell a story of family memories, places they've lived, and what's influenced them: their hometown in Rhode Island, years in North Carolina, stints on both coasts, and travels abroad.

Some menu names are nods to the influential people and places, others the stuff of family lore, and at times, just a name that makes them laugh.

The Ricotti, pictured above, for example, is an homage to the eponymous restaurant in Bristol, RI. It's a quintessential New England sub shop, and one of their first stops anytime they venture back to Rhode Island.

Of course, there's an endearing story behind the restaurant's name.

Lottie and Zula were the siblings' great-aunts. They were polar opposites, and weren't close. In their last days, both aunts found themselves living at the same nursing home, and kept tabs on each other from afar. In the end, the aunts passed away within a day of the other. The two were inextricably connected: first through family, and now, by Lottie & Zula's.

And the aunts would be pleased by the fare at Lottie & Zula's. The sandwiches here are perfectly executed and downright crave-worthy.

This is the kind of food you always want someone else to make for you: delicious, crafted with love, and utterly soul-satisfying.

Lottie & Zula's is open daily for takeout; and, in true Oregon fashion, bike delivery, as well.
