They have amazing reviews on Google and Facebook and serve chicken that will impress any foodie, along with some other great menu items. If you're looking for delicious food and outstanding service with a hometown feel, take a day trip to McAlester and give them a try.
The Yardbird at 1896 is located at 315 East Choctaw Street in McAlester. They are open Tuesday - Friday for lunch and on Thursday nights for dinner. Please note, they are closed Saturday - Monday.
The interior boasts a rustic, simple vibe with black and white checkered floors and plenty of tables.
There is also a secluded area over to the side that's perfect if you have a large group gathering. Their online reviews mention the great service and we couldn't agree more.
The place is well-known for its chicken and homemade food. Everything we ordered was so fresh, served warm, and had fantastic flavors.
It's one of the best-kept secrets in McAlester, so if you find yourself traveling through, be sure and put this place on your dining bucket list.
The Dirty Birdy Sandwich is their version of a Philly and comes highly recommended. One online reviewer said, "Went here to try the dirty bird sandwich. Quite possibly the best sandwich I've had in my life.
The wings, meatloaf, and biscuits were also excellent." Now, I'd say that's one convincing review.
And, just look at this big, juicy burger. If your mouth isn't watering yet, then we can't be friends.
