Take a trip to Chouteau and visit the Amish Cheese House - a full-service deli, store, and cafe all wrapped up in one. It's a family-owned establishment run by the local Amish community and a visit here will transport you to another era.

Amish Cheese House is a family run business by the local Amish community in Chouteau.
Before stepping inside, be sure to take a photo on the giant rocking chair out front.
Inside, there are over 7,000-square feet of space that are filled with snacks, treats, gift items, lots of cheese, a restaurant, and more.
You'll find over 50 different cheeses, including several with peppers that measure between 1.2 and 2.2 million heat units on the Scoville scale.
One of my favorites is the fresh homemade fudge that is baked in house daily. Sample some there or take a batch home to enjoy over the holidays.
There are rows and rows of bulk items. The most popular bulk item - honey cinnamon pretzels -must make it out of the store with you...they are incredible.
The restaurant serves delicious food, including a rotation of homemade soups. The Wisconsin Cheese and Chicken Noodle are two of my favorites.
Step back in time and sit in the buggy for a fun dining experience. Everything about this place will feel like you're living in a different era.
The store is also filled with many gift items...many of which would make perfect holiday gifts.
You'll also find your favorite soups available in the cooler. They have soup in microwave and freezer safe containers, so you can just grab and go.
Just be sure to grab a scoop of ice cream on your way out - the cones are homemade and worth every calorie!
