I Wandered Off-The-Beaten-Path And Discovered This Adorable Small-Town Cafe Near Cleveland

For the last five years or so, my partner and I have been adventuring all over Northeast Ohio in search of two things: the best coffee in Cleveland, and the region's best pizza. We definitely have our preferences, but we're not ready to stop the search. After all, it takes a couple visits to determine if the quality is consistent from visit to visit, and there are so many local businesses we still have yet to get to. However, when I heard about a new cafe in Medina, Ohio, I knew it had to be added to our list. This adorable shop opened in 2022, but it's off the beaten path, well removed from the nutty traffic of Medina Square. Charming and welcoming, I just had to tell you guys about this cozy local business.

Welcome to The Little Fox Cafe & Bakery, a charming little business near Medina Square.

As I used to be a reporter with the "Medina Gazette" so I'm super familiar with Medina, and I have a soft spot for the community. This business is located in an area known as Banker's Row, and it's practically behind the McDowell-Phillips House Museum. It's just around the corner from the Spitzer House, so the area is incredibly picturesque. However, it's also delightfully removed from traffic in the Square, but still close enough to merit a trip to both destinations.

As this was my first visit, I didn't know what to expect... but the interior had me instantly charmed.

The Little Fox Cafe & Bakery feels like stepping into a hidden garden party. The space is accented with ivory, and subtle elements like fencing help tie the vibe together.

Before I even made my way to the register, I was charmed by the shop's sense of humor.

According to the website, The Little Fox Cafe & Bakery is "owned and operated by a motivated mom with a dream." The space absolutely had that small town charm you'd expect, and the staff was immediately warm and welcoming.

Donuts were sold out by the time I arrived (the golden rule is to arrive early anywhere if you want to score good donuts, and it was late morning, so my bad), but a selection of fresh bakery greeted me beside the register.

I ended up leaving with a caramel cinnamon role and banana nut muffin for later, and both were excellent.

The fresh bakery did not disappoint. I was at first worried that there may not be enough caramel topping for the cinnamon roll, but it turned out to be the perfect amount for the moist and fluffy dessert. The muffin was also moist, thanks in part to an abundance of Rainforest Alliance Certified bananas.

For a more immediate treat, my partner and I both grabbed breakfast sandwiches.

I opted for a traditional English muffin, but my partner chose a bagel for his bread. We both requested double cheese, and let me tell you, these guys did not hold back! That was a true serving of double cheese, which made me instantly certain that we were in for a treat. You can check out their menu online to see what other customizable toppings you can add on, but you can make these sandwiches as decadent as your heart desires.

While the food was delicious, we visited for the coffee.

The Little Fox Cafe & Bakery has all the traditional offerings any good coffee shop should, plus a slew of add-in flavors and seasonal offerings.

We ended up with one hot and one iced coffee, and each was delicious.

The house blend is Jamaican Me Crazy, which is one of my all-time favorite blends. However, there's also a flavor of the day and decaf brew available, so there's something for everyone. If coffee isn't your vibe, there are also lemonades, milkshakes, tea, and other options to wet your whistle.

While we grabbed our orders to-go, it's now on my bucket list to return and dine-in.

The food was delicious, and the ambiance of this space was truly unbeatable. Small businesses like this are the lifeblood of their communities, and they always offer such an intimate experience. Chain cafes just can't compete.

Connect with The Little Fox on Facebook, as this is one local business to keep on your radar.

Next time you're in Medina, swing by The Little Fox Cafe & Bakery at 540 Blake Ave, Medina, OH 44256.

This charming cafe in Medina was so worth the trip off the beaten path. We loved our orders, and we're definitely planning a return trip in the near future. Do they have the best coffee in Greater Cleveland? We're still many sips away from making that declaration, but this cute shop is absolutely a contender. Stop by and see for yourself!

If you're coming from I-71, be sure to take the Route 18 exit so you can also swing by Lake Medina. This charming hiking spot just can't be beat!
