Although the Maid-Rite franchise didn't start here, something else certainly did. Greenville, Ohio is the proud home of the iconic Maid-Rite Sandwich Shoppe, a modest joint that some might call a "hole-in-the-wall." Known for their mouthwatering loose meat sandwiches, milkshakes and Coca-Colas, the Maid-Rite Sandwich Shoppe in Ohio is an unassuming eatery everyone should visit at least once.
When you're in the Greenville area, you've got to stop at the Maid-Rite. It's not like other Maid-Rites you may have visited.
This iconic joint has a long history of local love. Everyone in town frequents this beloved sandwich shop.
The unsuspecting sandwich shop has been family owned and operated since 1934. It's the place you come home to after you've been away or gone to college far away.
Most locals have several fond memories surrounding this quirky brick building and its delicious food.
The Maid-Rite franchise actually started in the mid 1920s in Iowa. They're known for their loose meat sandwiches across the U.S.
But none took off quite like the Greenville shop did.
Today, the small town sandwich shop has become a destination diner for Ohioans all over the state.

For just $2.25 you can get the iconic Maid-Rite sandwich. (And you can add cheese for just 30 cents more.)

The Big Jim (pictured) is another popular choice. It features ham and cheese in addition to the loose meat.
You can also get a ham, ham and cheese, chicken salad and egg salad sandwich.
If all the indoor seating is taken, don't worry. You can also sit out back if the weather is warm enough.
They're prepared for the crowds—because they always come.
Oh, and one more thing: When you stop by, you'll likely notice an abundance of chewing gum sticking to the exterior of the building. Rest assured, it's completely normal and the owners are well aware.
In fact, it's encouraged. No one really knows exactly when or why it started—but it's likely just a newcomers way of saying, "I was here."
