There's nothing wrong with fancy food or healthy food, but nothing beats a burger. Sometimes in life, a burger is simply needed. And for those in New York City—either tourists or residents—there's one burger that overwhelms, both in size and in the quality of the meat. That's right, we're talking about Kings of Kobe in Midtown Manhattan. It might just be the best burger in New York, and diners might just need two hands to eat it all. To learn more, keep reading, below.
Kings of Kobe started not with burgers, but hot dogs. It’s roots are as a pop-up restaurant in Downtown Manhattan that made waves slinging all-natural American Wagyu beef dogs.
Now, though, it’s their burger that we think is quite special. It sits on a menu next to wagyu steaks and other delicious meat-driven items. But what about those who don’t eat meat? Kings of Kobe has great vegetarian options, too.
The Kings of Kobe culinary team is headed by the restaurant’s founder, Etai Cinader. They are dedicated to serving only the best quality ingredients, and having a bit of fun while they do it.
Some of the standout items at Kings of Kobe are the Let’s Tango, which is a Wagyu hot dog with mango-jalapeno relish, lime mayo, crispy onions, and bacon bits, and the Sergeant Pepper, which is a whopping half a pound or one pound of a Wagyu patty along with Manchego cheese, Bibb lettuce, tomato, charred red onion, romesco sauce, and bread and butter pickles.
For those who want a bespoke experience, Kings of Kobe offers a build-your-own option. Visitors can choose from more than four dozen vegetables, cheeses, proteins, sauces, relishes and more conventional toppings.
But it’s really the burger that we think is the king here. All burgers—like our favorite, the Cheeseburger Rex, which features asiago cheese and double applewood smoked bacon—can be ordered as a half pound or a full pound. We recommend that visitors go all the way and get the full pound. Trust us, it's worth it.
No matter what you order at Kings of Kobe, your taste buds are in for a treat. Just make sure you come hungry.
For a truly mind-blowing burger, make it Kings of Kobe. While in Manhattan, why not also check out Gantry Plaza, which we think is the best park to view the New York City skyline. And for those looking for a place to stay in the city, we recommend Tempo By Hilton New York Times Square.
