This Might Be the Sweetest Food Challenge in New Jersey
Head to Washington to compete in the sweetest food challenge in New Jersey.
Many years ago, my husband introduced me to the “sport” of competitive eating. Although I have only been a food challenge spectator and never a participant, I have since spent countless hours watching various televised eating competitions from the comfort of my living room. Hot dogs, pizza, and pie seem to be some of the most popular foods to consume during these contests, but sometimes the challenge gets even sweeter, as is the case with this brand-new food event at Cafe 57, a local bakery and deli in Washington. This one may just be the most intimidating food challenge in New Jersey.

If you are a fan of sweet and sticky cinnamon buns, then this might be your type of event. Cafe 57 is known for these sweet treats, which are all made from scratch and include a variety of different frostings. If you have ever visited and tried one, you know why you will be craving more. But just how many more is the question?
Inside the Most Intimidating Food Challenge in New Jersey
Do you think that you are ready for this epic challenge? If so, here are the details. Participants must eat an entire tray of cinnamon buns. And no, this is not a tiny tray. I’m talking 15 buns, each three to four inches in size. And because you will need something to wash down all of that sticky goodness, you will also need to drink an entire gallon of milk. All of this must be done by a single person within a mere 30 minutes. No exceptions.
The entire cinnamon bun challenge is valued at $80. If you are successful, you won’t pay a thing. You also get your photo taken and placed on the wall of fame. Finishers additionally receive a coveted commemorative t-shirt. Please note that competitors in the food competition must sign up in advance.
While this delicious challenge is a brand-new event at Cafe 57, the restaurant has previously featured other popular competitive eating contests, including the ‘Cheesy Beast” challenge, which involved consuming 50 slices of cheese baked into various dishes.
Along with cinnamon buns, Cafe 57 serves fantastic breakfast items such as omelets, hash browns, and a variety of breakfast sandwiches. They also have a whole menu full of lunch options like sandwiches, burgers, quesadillas, wraps, and cheesecakes. Several gluten-free menu options are also available.
