New Jersey is home to some pretty spectacular sandwiches. From our signature pork roll, egg and cheese on a hard roll to the best cheese steak in America (better than Philly!), we definitely know what we're doing. There's a sandwich out there for every taste, and I highly recommend that everyone try these.
1. Grilled Cheese at the Melt Factory - Morristown
You can get practically anything grilled at the Melt Factory - even peanut butter and jelly. Try the Cheesy Mac and Rib with mac & cheese paired with pulled pork. The flavor combination is epic. Address: 28 Morris Street, Morristown
2. Zeus at the Clinton Station Diner - Clinton
Zeus is a 7-pound burger that will blow your mind. It may not be the best burger in the state, or even the biggest (the diner's Mt. Olympus comes in at 50 pounds), but if you can finish it in three hours, it's free. Up for a challenge? You can split with a friend if you finish in 90 minutes. Address: 2 Bank Street, Clinton
3. Taylor Ham, Egg & Cheese at Olde Towne Deli - Boonton
As you can see, Olde Towne Deli was named Best Taylor Ham, Egg and Cheese Sandwich by NJ.com. Fresh and flavorful, I agree that it's among the best in New Jersey. Address: 205 Main Street, Boonton
4. Brunchwich at The Committed Pig - Manasquan, Morristown, Summit
So much goodness in one sandwich! American cheese, bacon and egg, served on French Toast. Address: 28 West Park Place, Morristown - 168 Main Street, Manasquan - 339 Springfield Avenue, Summit
5. Cheesesteak at Donkey's Place - Camden, Medford
This cheesesteak sandwich was recently voted the best in America, beating out every restaurant in Philadelphia. Anthony Bourdain has even been here. While the Camden location is most famous, there is a second in Medford. Address: 1223 Haddon Avenue, Camden - 11 Tomlinson Mill Road, Medford
6. Sliders at Hoagitos - Asbury Park, Belmar
This boardwalk shop offers fresh, flavorful sandwiches in perfect-sized portions. Pictured are the Grilled Chicken Sliders: Grilled Chicken, Cheddar, Bacon, Pickled Chiles, Arugula, Herb Mayo, Brioche. Yum! Address: Boardwalk & 3rd, Asbury Park (seasonal) - 807 Belmar Plaza, Belmar
7. Subs at White House Sub Shop - Atlantic City
Any sub at this Jersey Shore classic is amazing, but don't miss the White House Special, loaded with salami, provolone and ham. Address: 2301 Arctic Avenue, Atlantic City
8. Anything with Mozzarella at Cosmo's - Hackensack
They've got the freshest mozz at this Italian deli and their sandwiches were voted best in the state by Saveur. The sandwiches are affordably priced and overflowing with flavor. Address: 705 Main Street, Hackensack
9. A Fat Sandwich at RU Hungry - New Brunswick
If you attended or even visited Rutgers University in recent decades, you're probably familiar with a fat sandwich? Heaven after an evening imbibing adult beverages, these greasy sandwiches are stuffed with everything from mozzarella sticks to chicken tenders and almost anything you can imagine. They also offer vegetarian options. Address: 95 Hamilton Street, New Brunswick
