There’s A Wine Trail In Nevada And It’s Everything You’ve Ever Dreamed Of
Reno's Wine Walk offers a unique wine tasting experience along the Truckee River every third Saturday of the month.
No matter who you are or what you do, we can probably agree on one thing: Wine is awesome. It's an ice-breaker, a passion, a hobby and (for many) the only thing that keeps us sane.
Well, wine lovers, listen up. There's a wine trail in Reno and it's calling your name. Every third Saturday of the month, from 2 to 5 p.m., businesses within stumbling distance of the Truckee River bring the community together for wine tastings. I'm talking more than 25 sipping stops on this Wine Walk trail. Now that's a lot of sanity!
Get ready to enjoy three hours of non-stop day drinking without any guilt. Why guilt free? First of all, you're getting out of your house and enjoying the ambiance of downtown Reno. Second, you're being social by mixing among fellow wine lovers. Finally, you could reasonably argue that this wine-tasting-event counts towards your daily exercise quota. Just be sure to celebrate with a glass of wine when your Fit Bit hits 10,000 steps. Now you're multi-tasking!
Your wine trail begins with a colorful wine glass.
Just pop into a participating business, pay the $20 ticket price, and you will receive a wine glass and wristband, giving you access to an afternoon of non-stop wine tasting.
You won't need any breadcrumbs to follow this trail. There are directions!
All of the stops on the Reno Riverwalk District Wine Walk are listed on a handy dandy map with pictures (which will help when your vision starts to blur). Where you go next is up to you. Participating businesses include restaurants, bars and art galleries, all members of the Riverwalk Merchants Association.
So you have your glass, your map and presumably a friend or two. If you don't have any friends, that's okay because wine will ALWAYS be your friend. Here's what happens next:
Pour, raise glass, open mouth, drink wine, stumble to your next stop, repeat.
Now put that visual on a loop in your head.
Pour, raise glass, open mouth, drink wine, stumble to your next stop, repeat.
If a Napa Valley wine tasting and a Happy Hour hooked up, this wine trail would probably be their illegitimate child. On steroids.
Mingling is optional, but also inevitable.
You will likely run into old friends, and you may even make some new ones at every stop, such as the Wild River Grille above. There are smiles and camaraderie all around because the Wine Walk is so much fun (and that whole inebriated thing ... I love you, man!).
Cheers to the wine, the great uniter!
Here's to many more years of peace, happiness, prosperity and ... wine.
