This Rustic Steakhouse In Nebraska Is A Carnivore’s Dream Come True

It seems like you can find a great steak in just about every city and town in Nebraska. What makes a steak really special, though, is the restaurant's ambiance. This spot in Sidney has all the rustic country charm you'd expect of a western Nebraska restaurant and then some.

Dude's Steakhouse & Brandin' Iron Bar has been a favorite destination in Sidney since 1952. The locally-owned restaurant has been operated by four generations (soon to be five!) of the same family.

The friendly atmosphere takes you back to earlier days when eating out with the family was a rare and special experience. Western decor and art by Nebraskan artist Aaron Pyle add to the pleasantly cozy surroundings.

Their claim to fame is the meal that folks come from miles around to taste: the tender, juicy steak swimming in au jus with sautéed mushrooms.

But they certainly don't stop at steak. This lamb chop with mint jelly looks like the kind of hearty meal we Nebraskans dream about. The daily specials are always terrific, no matter what they happen to be.

Even their bar food is next-level tasty. Imagine devouring these smothered steak fries while you down a cold beer with friends. My stomach is rumbling just thinking about it.

You may not expect to find fresh, tasty seafood at a western Nebraska steakhouse, but it happens to be one of the specialties at Dude's. These bacon-wrapped scallops look absolutely terrific.

The lunch menu is full of some amazing choices, from the soup of the day (cheesy French onion is pictured here) to a variety of burgers, to their famous chicken wings.

Dude's is even open for breakfast, which isn't something you'll find every day at a steakhouse. And this isn't just the perfunctory eggs, bacon and toast. There are Belgian waffles, omelettes, and 14 different breakfast platters to choose from, among many other selections.

If you're coming for dinner, don't forget to save room for something sweet at the end of your meal. There are some decadent choices on the menu to perfect your dining experience.

Next door to Dude's dining room you'll find the Brandin' Iron Bar, where you'll get so much more than drinks and bar snacks.
