We all know that there are almost infinite choices in Nebraska when it comes to steakhouses. Ranging from the ultra-fancy restaurants with strict dress codes to the places that look like they're actually inside someone's shed, there's something for pretty much anyone's taste. If you're into melt-in-your-mouth prime rib, head to Farmer Brown's in Waterloo. It was recently named by Thrillist as one of the top 21 steakhouses in the entire country.
Farmer Brown's has been serving up the family's own special prime rib recipe for more than 50 years.
You wouldn't know it from the unassuming building, but delicious things are waiting for you inside.
Would you look at that cut? That's not even a crazy "eat it all and it's free" challenge. That's just a regular menu item.
You can choose your cut of prime rib, from a modest serving to a gut-busting portion that barely even fits on the plate.
Prime rib and steak take center stage here, but the menu does include other treats like pork, seafood, chicken, and sandwiches.
Being a small-town restaurant, the prices are reasonable. And did we mention the portions? Because they're crazy huge.
The restaurant's interior is about as simple as its exterior. There are no unnecessary frills or fancy decorating schemes.
It's kind of like you're sitting down for a family meal...if the family's dining room was really big.
The Food Network filmed a segment of Food Paradise: Steak Paradise 3 at Farmer Brown's. The segment didn't make it into the final cut of the show, but the footage shows the family's secret to making incredible, tender prime rib.
