One Of Montana’s Best Restaurant Is Hiding In This Quiet Little Mountain Town
Mustang Fresh Food in Livingston offers gourmet contemporary American cuisine and has adapted to takeaway dinners during the pandemic.
There's a lot to love about Livingston. Located just 26 miles east of Bozeman, this little mountain town has a character that is all it's own. What most people don't know is that it's also home to a very underrated eatery. Mustang Fresh Food is as gourmet as it gets, and it's about time it gets the love it deserves.
You'll find Mustang Fresh Food at 112 North Main Street in Livingston.
The business was founded in 1997 as Mustang Catering by owner and chef Carole Sullivan, a true culinary artist. The restaurant itself opened in 2001 with the help of Carole's husband, Dan.
The interior is charming, cozy, and welcoming - and it's not what you'd expect to see in a small town.
This place looks like a refined bistro in a big city.
You know a restaurant is good when it has its own cookbook.
Chef Carole Sullivan released "New Frontier Cooking" a few years ago, and it's fantastic.
This restaurant was also featured on the Cooking Channel’s "Cheap Eats with Ali Khan," who gave it high praise.
It's a well-known fact that several celebrities have dined here. But if you watch the episode of Cheap Eats, you'll earn that Martha Stewart and President Obama are two of the famous faces who have been spotted here.
The menu consists mainly of upscale contemporary American cuisine.
From steaks and chicken to fresh seafood, you'll find all kinds of deliciousness on the menu.
In March of 2020, Mustang Fresh Foods closed its doors due to Covid concerns, but rather than go out of business, the restaurant simply started offering family takeaway dinners for instructions on reheating the food at home.
While most of Montana has re-opened, Mustang is currently sticking to takeaway dinners... for now.
Every Friday, you can order a takeaway dinner for two. In the meantime, you can always place an order for frozen and made-to-order meals as long as you give 24-hour notice.
We hope to see this delightful dining room full again soon.
In the meantime, help support this local business by ordering a delicious dinner you don't have to cook.
Have you ever heard of Mustang Fresh Food? We're lucky this local eatery is still around!
