We all scream for ice cream... until winter weather hits, that is, and all we can think about is staying inside with a cup of hot cocoa. But if you happen to live near a Sweet Peaks ice cream location, you should rethink that stance. Their holiday flavors are not only delicious, they're magical... one bite and you'll forget how cold it is outside.
Sweet Peaks Ice Cream got its start in 2010, when Sam Dauenhauer and Marissa Keenan opened the Whitefish location.
Montanans can now buy it in Missoula, Bozeman and Kalispell as well as Bigfork (but only in the summer).
Sweet Peaks was popular from the moment it opened, and these days, it's a household name.
The scoop shops are designed to be gathering places where the community can come together and enjoy their tasty treats.
During the summer, you'll often see lines out the door as people wait their turn for dessert - but this ice cream is amazing in any season.
They have classic flavors available all year as well as some seasonal favorites.
Summer flavors are typically all about the berries... but when winter rolls around, the holiday flavors come out, and they're delicious.
The gingerbread ice cream has locally made gingerbread cookies crumbled up into its gingerbread spiced base.
The peppermint candy cane flavor is so popular, it has been named Montana's Best Holiday Dessert by numerous travel publications.
It's tough to keep this flavor in stock, so go early if you have your heart set on it. Other specialty flavors include Montana Christmas, a delightful sweet cream and huckleberry jam concoction, and Santa's Snack, which is basically cookies and milk in ice cream form (and it's fantastic).
When you stop by for your seasonal scoops, grab a few gift cards to use for stocking stuffers.
Seeing this card sticking out of a stocking would put a smile on any Montanan's face.
Would you eat ice cream in the winter? Bundle up and try one (or all) of these flavors before they're gone.
