Savor Freshly Baked Pastries As You Shop At Noxon Mercantile & Cafe In Montana

Noxon Mercantile & Cafe in Noxon offers old-fashioned charm, a variety of made-in-Montana gifts, and delicious freshly baked goods.

There's not much to the tiny (and we do mean tiny) town of Noxon. With a population of just 218, it's safe to say it's a quiet, sleepy place. However, if you've passed through since last spring, you may have noticed that there's a new business in town -- and we're happy to say that it's well worth a stop. Noxon Mercantile & Cafe might be new, but it absolutely radiates old school charm and good old-fashioned service.

Noxon Mercantile & Cafe is located at 710 Noxon Avenue, where it quietly opened in the spring of 2019.

The owners, Amy and Chris, took their time with the concept to ensure that this would be a place travelers and locals would love to visit.

Step inside and you'll find an old-fashioned mercantile, complete with plenty of made-in-Montana (and made in the USA) gifts.

From ceramics and jewelry to candles and candy, you never know what you'll find in the shop.

The space also includes a full bakery and cafe, and the food is definitely a big draw.

Amy and Chris take a quality over quantity approach to the menu, and it shows.

You'll probably smell the donuts, cakes, and other pastries from the moment you walk in.

Everything is baked fresh daily, and it's just as delicious as it looks.

Start your morning off with a warm donut or a muffin and a piping hot cup of coffee.

The cafe seats up to 30 guests, so you're welcome to stay and enjoy your meal.

Need some treats to-go? That won't be a problem.

Come in and choose your own treats, or call ahead (406-847-2360) and place a custom order. For an idea of what you can get from the bakery, check out the Merc's website (linked below).

Hungry for lunch? You'll love the midday menu here.

The cafe is open Wednesday Saturday from noon until 7 p.m. and Sunday from noon to 4 p.m. It serves specialty burgers, fish & chips, grab-and-go sandwiches, and the delectable Cowboy Bowl, a blend of layered beans, pulled pork, coleslaw, and mac & cheese. And yes, those are hand-cut fries next to the burger in this photo.

The mercantile and cafe stays open all year, and the off-season is definitely time to visit.

You can enjoy exceptional service, a slow-cooked meal, and a relaxing shopping experience without the summer crowds. Of course, there's never a bad time to visit this lovely place. If you happen to be there on the first Sunday of the month from 10 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., you can enjoy a mouthwatering Sunday brunch, which is always an amazing way to start a day.

Intrigued? Check out the Noxon Mercantile & Cafe the next time you're in the area, and when you do, tell them we say hello.
