The Adorably Rustic Cabin Restaurant In Missouri That Serves Delicious Food

Delta Queen Port of Call Restaurant & Lounge in Kimmswick, Missouri offers a unique dining experience in a historic, refurbished home with French-Creole cuisine.

While there are plenty of gorgeous cabins to spend the night in, it's pretty rare to find one that offers a full-service restaurant. Lucky for us, there's a special place less than 25 minutes away from St. Louis that does just that. Today, we travel to Kimmswick, Missouri to find this amazing restaurant. The population of Kimmswick is just under 200 people, but their scenic location along the Mississippi River and great dining options make it a popular destination among tourists.

Delta Queen Port of Call Restaurant & Lounge just opened up last year, but it has over 200 years of history behind it.

Port of Call Restaurant & lounge is set inside a refurbished home that dates back to 1772. Throughout the years, this Revolutionary War-era home has served as a trading post, tavern, farmhouse and curio shop. It's believed that while it was a tavern, General Ulysses S. Grant often frequented it with other officers.

The restaurant is named after the historic Delta Queen Steamboat.

The Delta Queen steamboat first sailed the seas in 1927. Its headquarters was recently re-located to Kimmswick, with the hope to restore it to its natural glory and have it serve as a cruise ship. To raise awareness and support for this project, Port of Call Restaurant and Lounge was conceived and centers around the steamboat as the main theme of the restaurant.

Inside, the walls are adorned with old photos and there's even a model of the Delta Queen.

You'll be amazed at how much of the original building is still intact.

Though it may be rustic, you should expect fine dining when you come here.

For dessert, try out their delectable beignets.

Outside of New Orleans, beignets are pretty hard to find, so it's a real treat that Port of Call offers them as a dessert! The soft fried dough is sprinkled with powdered sugar and goes perfectly with a cup of coffee.

When the weather warms up, they'll open up their large patio seating section.

This spring and summer, dine under the shady trees while enjoying a fantastic meal paired with refreshing drinks.
