10 Foods That Every Kansas Citian Craves When They Leave Kansas City
Kansas City offers unique and delicious foods that locals will miss when they leave.
Leaving Kansas City for any period of time is sure to be difficult; there's just so much to love here. We leave behind our community, the local wildlife, the Plaza scene, and (most importantly) the food. Though there's probably similar foods where we end up, nothing's quite as good as eating it here in Kansas City. Here are ten of the foods you'll miss most of all after leaving our beautiful city and its dining scene.
1. Burnt ends, any way you'll serve 'em.
Whether you like them in a bowl or on a bun, these delicious little bits of meat aren't found just anywhere
2. The best chocolates you could ever get on First Fridays.
They're pretty expensive, but they come in every flavor and color at Christopher Elbow. Or, you can always find another Russell Stover to sate your craving.
3. Farm fresh... everything.
Many restaurants here use farm fresh ingredients, and we've also got a great farmer's market to bring our own ingredients home, too.
4. A juicy KC Strip.
I guess if you can't find it, you can always settle for a NY strip instead, right?
5. The best tacos in town.
It doesn't matter if you get them at Taco Republic or a food truck, you're going to miss just how customizable these things are in Kansas City. They're just so good!
6. The best barbecue in the world, no matter where your loyalties lie.
Jack Stack or Joe's, you'll be craving your Kansas City flavors in no time.
7. The cinnamon rolls at Stroud's.
These rolls aren't smothered in icing, but they're the perfect balance between cinnamon and dough. Plus, a visit to Stroud's is a great reason to grab a plate of fried chicken too!
8. Unique pizza that fits your tastes.
Pizzabella is awesome at their craft, and you'll be craving your favorite pizza place shortly after leaving town. I mean, who doesn't love their favorite pizza joint?
9. A fresh pigwich, right from the truck.
Pigwich is a must for anyone in Kansas City, and their pork tenderloin sandwiches just aren't found anywhere else.
10. Your favorite boulevard brew.
Yeah, we know it's not technically a food, but it's a sore spot you'll miss anyways.
Speaking of Joe's Kansas City Bar-B-Que, have you heard that it's been named the best in the country?
