You Haven’t Lived Until You’ve Tried The BLT From The Tomato Place In Mississippi
The Tomato Place in Vicksburg is a quirky roadside stop known for its exceptional BLT sandwiches and eclectic atmosphere.
Simple yet delicious, nothing hits the spot quite like a BLT. However, not all BLTs are created equal. Some are subpar, while others are so good, they make an impression that’ll last a lifetime. The BLT from The Tomato Place, a quirky roadside stop, falls into the latter category. Take a look:
Located along a stretch of highway in Vicksburg, The Tomato Place is an attraction, eatery, and produce stand all in one.
The one-of-a-kind destination actually started off as a few different fruit stands. In 2001, the fruit stands merged into one business, creating the ultimate roadside stop The Tomato Place is today.
Over the years, The Tomato Place has grown into a major pit stop for locals and tourists from both the U.S. and abroad. It’s even been featured on a few TV shows.
But it’s not just the quirky appearance or “southern grandma’s back porch atmosphere” that has propelled The Tomato Place into stardom.
Part of what draws people to The Tomato Place is the on-site café, which serves up hearty breakfasts as well as salads, signature sandwiches, burgers, po'boys, and lunch plates featuring fresh, in-season vegetables.
Fresh-squeezed lemonade, iced tea and blended fruit smoothies are also part of the fare.
The most famous item on the menu, though, is the BLT.
Far from your typical BLT, the BLT at The Tomato Place has been dubbed “the best on the face of the planet” by The Washington Post.
Offering new twists on an old favorite, the menu features several variations of the classic sandwich. A BLT po’ boy, BLT club, and fried green tomato BLT are just a few of the options you’ll find on the menu.
Regardless of which type of BLT you order, you can count on it being made with garden fresh tomatoes, lots of crispy bacon, and toasted bread.
Though you may be a bit distracted by the tasty grub, you’ll definitely want to take some time to explore The Tomato Place.
Between the brightly colored, eclectically decorated interior and...
...the amazing array of merchandise, there’s a lot to take in.
