Nothing hits the spot quite like a BLT. From the crispy bacon to the fresh tomatoes, it’s nearly impossible to think about the sandwich without your mouth watering. (Or is that just me?) And, like me, you probably thought the classic sandwich couldn’t get any better. But guess what? It can. And if you need proof, just pay a visit to one of these Mississippi restaurants that put their own tasty twist on the BLT.
1. The Tomato Place
With a name like "The Tomato Place," it should come as no surprise that this Vicksburg eatery serves up a BLT that’s sure to please. In fact, the fried green tomato BLT, which is made with only the freshest ingredients and locally grown tomatoes, is one of the restaurant’s signature specialties. Visit the quirky roadside eatery at 3229 Hwy 61 S., Vicksburg, MS 39180.
2. Maison De Lu
A lovely eatery in downtown Ocean Springs, Maison de Lu features a mouthwatering menu filled with soups, salads, sandwiches, and gourmet dinners. The restaurant also serves up daily specials throughout the week – one of which is the grilled turkey BLT avocado wrap. An outdoor seating area only adds to the eatery’s charm. Visit Maison de Lu at 626 Washington Ave., Ocean Springs, MS 39564.
3. The Blue Biscuit
At this Indianola eatery, the BLT gets beefed up with the addition of a perfectly grilled hamburger patty. Dubbed the Delta BLT Burger, it’s a hearty alternative to the classic sandwich. Visit The Blue Biscuit at 501 Second St., Indianola, MS 38751.
4. Roca Restaurant and Bar
Please note, Roca Restaurant and Bar has permanently closed.
At this Vicksburg eatery, you can enjoy two different versions of the BLT. Available only on select days, the roasted chicken with avocado BLT is a popular lunchtime special. A menu staple, the fried chicken BLT is available all the time. And with tasty bacon, fried chicken, and Comeback sauce, it’s sure to please. Visit Roca at 1306 Washington St., Vicksburg, MS 39180.
5. Biscuits and Blues
Biscuits and Blues merges two classic sandwiches, the BLT and the po’ boy, to create the ultimate sandwich – the BLT po’ boy. Just as you’d expect, the tasty creation includes all the toppings of a classic po’boy along with a huge pile of perfectly cooked bacon. Visit Biscuit and Blues at 315 Main St., Natchez, MS 39120.
