After A Short Hiatus, Mississippi’s Favorite Donut Spot, TatoNut Donut Shop, Has Re-Opened  

We’ve got some sweet news. After being closed for the first half of 2021, the TatoNut Donut Shop has finally re-opened. If you were already familiar with the famous donuts prior to the shop’s closure, you’ve undoubtedly missed them. And if you haven’t had the pleasure of sampling the sweet creations yet, now’s your chance!

The TatoNut Donut Shop is an Ocean Springs staple.

It opened in 1960 and has been doling out its signature donuts ever since…for the most part.

Sadly, in January 2021, the shop was forced to close its doors, after the death of David Mohler, one half of the husband-and-wife team who run the TatoNut Donut Shop.

When the decision was made to shut the shop’s doors, Theresa Mohler, David’s widow, promised the “dough would rise again” - and she kept her promise.

In mid-June, the TatoNut Donut Shop re-opened to a warm reception. Just like in the past, patrons lined up to get a taste of the “only real donut.”

So, just what is it that makes the donuts so special? Well, for starters, they’re made with potato flour – hence the name.

It’s not just the donuts that are made from scratch, though.

The TatoNut Donut Shop makes its own chocolate frosting, too. And just like the donuts, a unique recipe is used.

The shop also whips up a variety of pastries.

The menu includes gourmet coffee and specialty coffee drinks, too.

When visiting the TatoNut Donut Shop, remember to get there early. Otherwise, you might be greeted with the dreaded “Sold Out” sign.
