The Tiny Restaurant In Minnesota That Only Serves A Couple Dozen Guests At A Time

Eagle Valley Cafe, in the charming Mississippi River town of Wabasha - the oldest community in the state - is a tiny restaurant in Minnesota. With seating for at least a couple dozen, including the counter and a few tables, it's by no means the smallest (that's most likely Al's Breakfast in Dinkytown), but it's atmosphere is certainly intimate. What it lacks in floor space, though, it makes up for in big, hearty portions with plenty of comfort food flavor!

You'll find Eagle Valley Cafe just off U.S. Highway 61, on the edge of Wabasha.

A plain, concrete structure that's painted a sunny, pastel yellow with a signature blue trim, it's not a very big place.

Step inside, though, and you'll be greeted with a warm, inviting atmosphere, and a welcoming staff of servers.

Wabasha has a lot going for it on it's own, but it's still riding high from its star turn in the Grumpy Old Men movies of the 1990s.

And Eagle Valley Cafe isn't immune to the limelight, so you'll probably find some memorabilia on the walls and some merch for sale on the counter when you visit. It's just one more thing that contributes to the eatery's charm.

The cozy space means that you may need to wait for a seat at busier times, but trust me - your patience will pay off.

You'll find all the diner classics on the cafe's menus, like hearty breakfast combos, including toast made from bread baked in-house.

The omelets are also fan favorites. (That's my go-to order when I stop in!)

If you show up later in the day looking for heartier fare, you won't be disappointed with the cafe's selection of comfort food faves, like the hot roast beef.

Or if you're looking for something simple, like a burger or a sandwich, Eagle Valley has you covered there, as well.

And, of course, in a diner like this where everything is made from scratch, you're going to find delicious pie.

Even if you're full - and you probably will be - or you have a thing about eating pie at breakfast, you should definitely get a slice or six of Eagle Valley Cafe's pie to take home with you. You'll kick yourself later if you don't!

Eagle Valley Cafe is kinda small, but it's definitely mighty - and you will certainly not regret stopping in for a meal. I live in the Cities, and for me, it's a road trip destination. The food is just that good! Check out Eagle Valley Cafe's Facebook page for more info.
