The Small-Town Restaurant That Is Worth A Visit From Anywhere In Minnesota
Driving east from the small community of St. Leo, Minnesota (population around 100), you'd be forgiven to think that you wouldn't encounter much along the road. But keep your eyes peeled - about three miles east of St. Leo, you'll come across a low-slung, unassuming structure with a sign that reads "Family Bar & Grill." This, dear readers, is the Greendoor Steakhouse and Sports Bar, and believe me when I tell you that this small town restaurant in Minnesota is worthy of a road trip - no matter where in the Land of 10,000 Lakes you're coming from.
Greendoor Steakhouse and Sports Bar is located a little more than three miles east of St. Leo on County Rd. 3 (220th Ave.).
It's an unassuming eatery with a gravel parking lot that's located between the road and Spring Creek, which flows behind the restaurant.
You won't see its name on the sign, but it's clearly printed on the eatery's eponymous green door.
Inside, you'll find a warm and welcoming place, with a lively bar, comfortable booths, and plenty of friendly folks.
As friendly as the folks are, though, the star of the show is the food.
You'll find juicy burgers with plenty of incredible sides.
Of course, there are massive slabs of steak - to which you can add a little "surf," if you're so inclined.
The walleye is one of the Greendoor's most popular dishes.
In addition to these menu staples, the restaurant also serves up a regular rotation of specials.
No matter what you order to eat, you'll find plenty of options to wash it down with.
From a solid beer selection to creative and classic cocktails, you won't leave thirsty.
Nor will you leave this roadside eatery hungry! Be warned though: Reservations are highly recommended. Give the restaurant a call at (320) 669-1470 to book your table. If you want to check out the vibe, visit Greendoor Steakhouse and Sports Bar on Facebook. You'll also find some information on the restaurant's website. Since you'll be in the western part of the state anyway, be sure to pay a visit to Granite Falls and take a stroll across its historic pedestrian bridge over the Minnesota River. Lac Qui Parle State Park is also nearby - only 40 minutes or so from St. Leo.
