The Branding Iron is a supper club in Minnesota that's been serving up classic fare for more than half a century. Located in the charming town of Preston, in Minnesota's Bluff Country, a visit to this restaurant is a nostalgic, because you just down run into old-school dining like this as often as you used to in the Land of 10,000 Lakes - especially in this part of the state.
No matter what direction you approach from, you're more likely to see this iconic supper club's sign along U.S. Highway 52 before you see the restaurant, itself.
Perched regally atop a bluff above the Root River valley, The Branding Iron is a local and regional favorite that draws diners from all across the driftless area.
The dining room offers a 70s retro kind of vibe with brown bricks, wood paneling, and wagon wheel light fixtures.
The floor-to-ceiling windows afford views out over the valley, the town of Preston, and its 1,300-or-so people.
The Branding Iron boasts a cozy, full bar that's the perfect place for a happy hour beverage or to enjoy a drink before dinner.
The bartenders are sure-handed when it comes to mixing supper club classics, like old fashioneds, martinis, and Manhattans.
There's also a solid selection of beers and wines on hand.
But the main event, of course, is the menu.
There's you'll find the fare that you'd expect, with steaks, chops, chicken, and sandwiches.
The Branding Iron keeps its fish and seafood-loving patrons happy and coming back for more, with standard like shrimp cocktail and lobster tails.

There are plenty of dessert options to satisfy your sweet tooth.
Believe me when I say that The Branding Iron is definitely worth the trip to Preston in its own right. But, there are even more reasons for road tripping to visit this charming town in Minnesota's Bluff Country. It's the gateway community for Forestville/Mystery Cave State Park. Cyclists and hikers will appreciate that the Harmony-Preston Valley State Trail runs right through the village. It connects with the longer Root River State Trail - and, thus, to Fountain, Lanesboro, and Rushford - just a couple of miles outside of town. The Country Trails Inn and Suites is a lodging option that's close to the trail and within walking distance of The Branding Iron.
