Half Pint Brewing Co. near Waseca is a unique Minnesota brewery. Don’t worry - like other breweries in the Land of 10,000 Lakes, it has plenty of beer. Rather, what sets Half Pint apart is that the brewery grows the hops it uses to make its beer. Let’s check it out!

Half Pint Brewing Co. is a popular Minnesota brewery located on a farm just outside of Waseca.

Like any other brewery you might find in the North Star State, Half Pint offers an array of fine beers - including the requisite IPAs - for the sampling (or taking home in a growler).

What makes Half Pint unique in Minnesota is that it was the first brewery to set up on a farm and grow hops.

The very hops that Half Pint uses to make its beers, in fact.

After harvesting the hops, Half Pint stores them carefully for use in its upcoming batches of brew.

Once fermented, kegged, and tapped, you can enjoy the products made from the hops.

At any given time, Half Pint has more than half a dozen beers available. You may also find hard seltzer and even root beer if you visit at the right time.

You’re welcome to bring your own food to the brewery, but Half Pint does partner with Pleasant Grove Pizza Farm to serve up some tasty pie to complement its beers.

Stop by when there’s live music, kick back with a brew and enjoy the view out over the fields, knowing that what you’re drinking was grown and produced right there.

For more information on Half Pint Brewing Co.’s hours, events, and the beers (or other beverages) currently available, check out the brewery’s website. Half Pint is open year-round, but summer is a particularly fine time to visit the area, because you can set up your base camp at Kiesler’s Campground and RV Resort and cool down at Waseca Water Park.
