El Sazon Tacos and More is located inside an unassuming BP station on Diffley Road in Eagan - and it just happens to serve up some of the best tacos in Minnesota. That's right: tasty tacos from a gas station. Let's find out how the restaurant pulls off this improbable feat.
El Sazon is the brainchild of an experienced chef and his wife and partner, who both worked in the hospitality industry for years before deciding to start their own business.
That business is El Sazon Tacos and More, and they operate it out of a small kitchen in a BP gas station in Eagan.
The kitchen may be small and inside a gas station, but what emerges from it is nothing like typical C-store food.
Thanks to the owners' culinary backgrounds, these are not the tacos you'd expect to find in a gas station.
The food from El Sazon is truly elevated, and it is even presented in a manner that belies its source.
Just take a look at these tacos de camaron, prepared with tempura shrimp.
It's not just about the tacos, though. As the restaurant's name says, there's "more." El Sazon also offers up specials on a regular basis.
One example is the birria empanadas, topped with pickled onions, cilantro and jalapeños, and served with chimichurri aioli and consommé on the side.
Tamales are also a regular staple on El Sazon’s menu.
As is the elote.
Take your food to go, or enjoy a dine-in experience to soak up the ambience of the BP station.
