If Minnesotans know one thing, it’s this: when the weather is nice, the best place to be is outside. After all, nice weather doesn’t last long in our state! There are many places to enjoy the outdoors, but those who love both art and nature may want to take note of the spot we’d like to share today. Caponi Art Park is a one-of-a-kind attraction that is absolutely heaven on Earth. Take a look:
Caponi Art Park is a beautiful park in the Twin Cities suburb of Eagan, Minnesota. It’s a great afternoon adventure for those in the metro area or a day trip destination for those who live a bit farther away.
The park consists of 60 acres of lovely rolling hills. Nature is on display here, with plenty of trees, lovely foliage, and flowers. No matter when you go, you’ll be struck by the gorgeous landscape.
Not only does Caponi have lovely scenery. It also has interesting art! There are miles of trails through the park to enjoy the sculptural installations.
The sculptures cover a wide variety of subject matter, from animals to more abstract works.
Some seem to blend into the natural surroundings…
The sculptures were created by the late Anthony Caponi, the park’s founder and a former Macalaster College art professor. Since 1987, his works have delighted thousands of visitors each year!
Not only can you browse whimsical sculptures surrounded by beautiful natural scenery at Caponia. You can also enjoy a performance! The Theater in the Woods is an outdoor amphitheater that regularly hosts regional performers. We highly recommend syncing your visit up to align with a performance!
Caponi Art Park is truly a one-of-a-kind destination in Minnesota. If you enjoy exploring nature and browsing art, you’ll love your visit here! For more information, including hours, events, and more, visit the Caponi Art Park website and Facebook page. And if you’d like to check out more interesting places while you’re in Eagan, pay a visit to Lebanon Hills Regional Park for more nature views and The Mason Jar for a tasty meal!
