A Massachusetts Dining Experience So Exceptional, It’s Nationally Recognized

Looking for the best seafood in Massachusetts? The Barking Crab on Boston Harbor isn't just a seafood shack, it's bucket list-worthy.

I don't make it to Boston too often, but when I do, there's one thing that's always on my agenda - getting amazing seafood. Massachusetts is one of the seafood capitals of the United States, and Boston is packed with iconic restaurants, some of which have been around almost as long as this country. However, if you ask the average person to name the most famous seafood restaurant in Massachusetts, you might get an unusual reply. The Barking Crab, a unique seafood shack on Boston Harbor, serves some of the best seafood in Massachusetts. It's been around since 1994 and has undergone a complete transformation during that time, becoming one of the most iconic restaurants in Massachusetts. A true institution, the seafood spot has over 6,100 Google reviews, and the food is pretty darn great.

What sets The Barking Crab apart from other seafood restaurants in Boston? It's a lot more casual, a classic New England seafood shack taken up to 11, rather than a traditional restaurant. If you ask me, that's the perfect way to enjoy seafood.

The Barking Crab started its life as a seasonal outdoor dining spot, and the original eating area has since been joined by an indoor heated space that allows it to operate year-round. There's no wrong time, after all, to indulge in classic dishes.

If you stop by for lunch, you might want to dig into some of the classic lighter dishes. The lobster rolls are fantastic and come in both traditional and warm, and the fried clams are some of the best around. A fried fisherman's platter is the perfect way to sample several items, such as fried scallops and haddock.

For dinner, diners typically dig into massive plates of fresh seafood, including some of the best lobster and crab meals in Boston. The lobster comes four ways - steamed, grilled, pan-roasted, or stuffed and baked.

And, of course, if the weather is nice enough, the view from Boston Harbor is one of the best in the city and another reason to add this restaurant to your Bay State bucket list.

Have you been to The Barking Crab? If not, tell a friend about this article and dig into some of the best seafood in Massachusetts. See the full menu on the website of The Barking Crab, and while you're in town, explore Boston Harbor's famous Boston Tea Party Ships and Museum, one of the most fascinating exhibits in the city. The area is also home to the luxurious waterfront Boston Harbor Hotel, which earns phenomenal reviews from travelers.
