I Never Visit Cape Cod Without Stopping at Keshar for Curry and Naan

Keshar is a must-visit hidden gem Indian restaurant in West Yarmouth with some of the best naan and curry around.

I spend a lot of time on Cape Cod each year and consider myself a part-time local, especially since my dad lives here. During my visits, we tend to explore the culinary scene, and have discovered that Cape Cod dining is so much more than the seafood restaurants it is best known for. One place recommended to us a few years ago is a highly-rated Indian restaurant in West Yarmouth. However, due to its unassuming location, we certainly wouldn't have discovered it on our own. Whenever I visit Cape Cod now, I must stop at Keshar Indian Restaurant and Bar for its curry, naan, and other delectable dishes. Located past the lobby inside the Aiden by Best Western on Route 28, you'd pass right by unless you were staying at the hotel or knew it was here.

When Keshar Indian Restaurant and Bar was recommended to us, we were told that it has "the best Indian food on Cape Cod." Naturally, we had to go check it out! I love the fragrant spices used in curry dishes, as well as a bit of heat, so I was excited to try this restaurant.

I must admit that the first time my dad and I went, we were confused about its unexpected location at the Aiden by Best Western as we parked the car and walked into the lobby. Past the front desk, we found a rather open dining room with a bar and not much in the way of decor. However, plenty of light was streaming through the pristine space's windows, the tables were neatly set, and gorgeous modern chandeliers were hanging from the ceiling, making it seem welcoming and upscale.

We sat down, glanced over the menu, and placed our order with the friendly server. Naan was the first thing we decided on, specifically the Kashmiri naan stuffed with minced nuts and sweetened coconut. For curry, we ordered the Mango Chicken and channa masala, and chose a spice level for each. While I can take more heat than my dad, we compromised on a level three spice for one of the curries and a level two spice for the other.

When our order arrived—two bowls of curry, two dishes of basmati rice, and a basket of Kashmiri naan—we couldn't have been more excited to dig in. The sweet naan bread was a great contrast to the spiciness of both curry dishes, which were incredibly flavorful. We even paired cocktails from the bar with our meal. I've been back to Keshar several times since that first visit, and crave it when I am not on the Cape. This past summer, we took my daughter along, and I was pleasantly surprised that she, too, absolutely loved the curry and naan at this gem of a restaurant, too!

If you're looking for things to do in the West Yarmouth area, stop by the Whydah Pirate Museum for a look inside the life of the pirates of the Whydah that sank off the shore of Cape Cod in 1717. After perusing the museum, play a round of miniature golf at Pirate's Cove Adventure Golf in South Yarmouth.
