If you like ice cream, Massachusetts definitely delivers. This state is positively lousy with ice cream shops that serve up a dizzying array of flavors. However, if you want the absolute best, you should head over to Four Seas in Centerville.
This quaint shop on Cape Cod has won awards for its creamy, delicious ice cream. One bite and you’ll surely see why.
Four Seas has been scooping up smiles since 1934! After nearly 100 years in the ice cream business, they sure know a thing or two about taste. The shop is consistently voted among the best in Massachusetts and even the nation.
Located on Main Street in Centerville, the shop offers 50 flavors of ice cream served by the cone, cup, or quart. This is homemade ice cream made the old-fashioned way.
They specialize in classic flavors like fresh peach, black raspberry, cookie dough, peanut butter chocolate chip, and coffee. You should also try their maple walnut, rum and butter, lemon crisp, ginger, and frozen pudding flavors.
They actually invented chip chocolate ice cream - made with melted chocolate that instantly solidifies when it hits the cold ice cream - and penuche pecan, a retro brown sugar flavor based on an old New England recipe.
They don’t skimp on the extras either. Load up your cone with unique toppings like claret sauce, walnuts in maple syrup, creme de menthe, or apple cinnamon.
If you want something savory to go with your ice cream, pick up one of their legendary lobster salad sandwiches. It’s the perfect Cape Cod lunch.
Four Seas is open for single-serve ice cream seasonally in the spring and summer, though their shop is now open year-round for ice cream cakes and quarts.
Check out the Four Seas website for more information about current opening hours and flavors. Feel free to call ahead to confirm your favorite flavor is being scooped! What’s your favorite place in Massachusetts to get an ice cream cone?
