One Of The Best Tex-Mex Restaurants In Maryland Is Hiding In This Small Maryland Town

Ernesto’s Grill in Ellicott City offers a delightful Tex-Mex dining experience with unique dishes and a charming atmosphere.

Ellicott City is one of Maryland’s favorite communities, famous for its historical significance and for its charming small-town atmosphere. Now, it should come as no surprise that there are a ton of great restaurants in this town, but somehow there always seems to be another stone to turn over or a corner to round in the culinary exploration of Ellicott City. And it just so happens that Ernesto’s Grill, one of Maryland’s best Tex-Mex restaurant experiences, can be found hiding here as well. It’s absolutely worth taking the time to find it because it’s absolutely delicious.

Ernesto’s is hidden away in the back of Ellicott City’s famed Enchanted Forest shopping center, and the menu packs some huge and intense Tex-Mex flavor into this charming little spot.

There’s a spacious and welcoming dining room with a bright cantina-like atmosphere, which is one of my favorite ways to enjoy the warm flavors of Mexican cuisine.

I’m not sure who came up with the idea of the Beer-a-rita, but it certainly is a fun one. As the name implies, a tiny beer is turned over in a margarita so that it refills as you drink it. It packs a refreshing punch that I should definitely not be missed.

There are tons of delicious options available at Ernesto’s, from the sweet and savory options like the chicken in pepper cream sauce…

…To the brochetta that’s flamed table-side. This skewer is covered with bacon-wrapped shrimp, fresh veggies, and chicken, then covered in wine and set aflame. It’s a show for sure, and one that I can assure you is absolutely delicious!

There’s just something I find irresistible about flan, the Spanish baked custard that’s sweet and cool with a caramelized top. Ernesto’s makes a fantastic one, so be sure not to skip dessert!

With restaurants like Ernesto’s (and many others to boot), Ellicott City is a small town that is absolutely worth several exploration trips. And the next time you make the journey, why not head for a relaxing spa day?
