The Worcester Lunch Car Company specialized in handcrafted diners with porcelain exteriors and hardwood interiors. Today, Miss Portland Diner might just be one of the best examples of their work.

This iconic diner is located in (you guessed it!) Portland! It exhibits some of the quintessential features of these types of dining cars, including stainless steel starburst panels, marble countertops and hardwood booths.

Stepping inside feels like transporting yourself to 1964 when the diner was moved from Forest Avenue to Marginal Way.

Since that time she's been updated and renovated to accommodate a more modern crowd. Specifically, a crowd that takes up more room. The diner has become so popular that an expansion was necessary. It now exists beyond just the dining car into another room. They have daily specials, which we love.

And their tried-and-true menu has always remained delicious and large. There's nothing quite like a breakfast here to keep you full all day.

You can visit on your own and sit at the counter, but we love the idea of coming with a friend to enjoy some time together to start the day.

Miss Portland even made a special appearance in the 1993 Mel Gibson movie, Man without a Face.
