The Nostalgic Restaurant Where Every Mainer Grew Up Eating
Dysart's Restaurant is a beloved Maine institution known for its homemade meals and iconic buttery, flaky crust.
This spot is an absolute Maine institution and many of you probably grew up eating some of your favorite family meals here. What is the best way to describe this absolutely iconic restaurant? While there are many words we could use, the ones that feel most appropriate are "buttery" and "flaky!" Not sure why? You'll want to read on and make sure to watch the videos at the bottom for, perhaps, the funniest thing to ever come out of Maine!
Does this look familiar?
It should!
It all started in the winter of 1967 when David Dysart and his family created the first ever Dysart's Restaurant menu.
The menu was full of homemade Maine recipes when it opened on Mother's day in 1967.
Today there are 9 travel stops located throughout Maine and, in 2014, Dysart's opened their second restaurant in Bangor.
Over 45 years later, Dysart's is still family owned and operated, serving delicious meals and more to hungry truckers, travelers and Maine locals 24 hours a day, 7 days a week!
In the morning you'll find the smell of coffee brewing.
And if you're smart you'll dig into one of these incredible morning treats!
Or, of course, you can go for their famously huge order of pancakes!
If sweet mornings aren't your thing, get the made to order eggs.
Dysart's is one part truck stop, two parts restaurants and all parts VERY Maine!
As the restaurant says, "home cooking tastes best when you don't have to cook it!"
And Dysart's is known for the home cooking.
If you're not close enough to stop in, you can even order pies online!
And while you can get any number of classic Maine meals, you're going to want to order the whole chicken pot pie which comes with that hilariously famous "buttery, flaky crust!"
The location on Colbrook Road in Hermon is open all the time, while the Bangor location is open every day from 7am to 9pm and until 11pm on Fridays.
Dysart's truly is a Maine institution! There are two locations: The Colbrook Road Restaurant located at I-95 Exit 180, 530 Coldbrook Road in Hermon, Maine / 207-947-8732 or The Broadway Restaurant located at I-95 Exit 185, 1110 Broadway, in Bangor, Maine / 207-942-6725. Check them out online here.
