Scoop Deck in Wells got its start in the 1980s when Suzanne Erskine Fretwell began the fledgling business out of her parents home.

It officially opened in 1983 and saw two full summers of operation before she turned the business over to her brother, Doug. Doug Erskine has run the shop ever since, growing the business exponentially. His son, Scott, joined the team in 2006 and in 2012, Scott's wife, Emily, joined the business. In 2013, the parking lot was expanded and the barn added making this a one-stop shop of all things ice cream!

For more than 30 years, Scoop Deck has been offering delicious cones and cups to locals and folks from away.

There are more than 50 flavors of ice cream on the flavor board and that doesn't even include the soft-serve, sorbet, and sherbet!

Choose your size, your toppings and how you want to eat it and you're all set!

And by "all set" we mean you'll have your ice cream. We're still not sure how to help you finish it!

As you can see, these scoops are absolutely massive.

And with so many flavor options, they have to be. How else will you be able to get through the entire flavor board in one summer?

Flavors range from the more traditional like vanilla and peppermint stick, while also satisfying the cravings of folks who yearn for the unique.

We love things like Muddy Turtle, featuring vanilla ice cream laced with caramel ripple and brownie bits. You might also want to try Peanut Butter Iditarod, which comes with rich vanilla ice cream, chocolate peanut butter cups & swirls of peanut butter.

Plan to spend at least 15 minutes selecting a flavor. But, we have a feeling that finishing your cone might take significantly less time!

Scoop Deck is located at 6 Eldridge Rd., Wells, Maine. They're open every day of the week during the season, which runs from Memorial Day weekend through late September.
