Tucked away in St. Landry Parish, the Steamboat Warehouse Restaurant doesn’t look like much from the parking lot, but we all know that looks can be deceiving.
This rustic restaurant in Washington is easy to pass up, but we promise you it’s worth the extra effort to seek out.
The restaurant is housed in a historic steamboat warehouse that dates back to 1819.
The warehouse was completed in 1823 and, although the last steamboat left Washington in 1900, the building was still put to good use.
Restored to glory in 1977, today Steamboat Warehouse is a popular spot for locals looking to dine in a beautifully historic atmosphere while feasting on incredible Cajun specialities.
You'll feel the history of the building from the moment you walk inside.
Overlooking Bayou Courtableau, the views from the deck are simply irresistible in the fall.
During sunset, it’s even more magical.
The only thing better than the view and the atmosphere is the food.
Come hungry, because you’ll want to order one of everything on the menu.
Featuring some of St. Landry Parish’s finest comfort Cajun cuisine, a meal at Steamboat Warehouse is certainly one to remember.
From chicken and sausage gumbo to crawfish enchiladas, their menu covers everything from the classics to specialty spins on Cajun favorites.
For fried seafood, you can't go wrong with one of their seafood platters.
Catfish, shrimp, oysters, stuffed shrimp, and stuffed crab make up this delicious seafood pile pictured above.
But you'll also find several lighter options as well.
Grilled redfish, chicken dishes, and for the steak lovers, their ribeye's will make your tastebuds explode.
Steamboat Warehouse is open six days a week.
They open at 5 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday for dinner and 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Sundays.
