Known for their thin-fried catfish, this is one restaurant that has stood the test of time.
Louis and Josie Middendorf opened what was originally a modest cafe in 1934.
Josie did all the cooking using her own personal recipes while Louis bartended and mingled with the customers— it's a true family owned and operated business.
Middendorf’s remained a family run business until 2007 when it was sold to Horst and Karen Pfeifer.
While they have kept many of the recipes that made Middendorf’s so beloved, they have also added their own stamp on this historic restaurant. One of their most recent addition is the construction of the large deck and sand play area for kids.
The views on the outdoor deck are simply amazing.

We have mama Josie to thank for this delicious treat. Thinly cut catfish fillets are perfectly fried and served with hush puppies, cole slaw, and fries. Yum!
One of the best parts of Middendorf’s that you can also access it by boat!
