1. Harlow’s Donut & Bakery
This little hidden gem tucked away in Pineville is worth the drive. Established in 1972, this family-owned and operated bakery is your go-to fix for king cakes in central Louisiana.
2. Julie Anne’s Bakery & Cafe
This charming little bakery has been serving the Shreveport community sweet treats since 1992. Their king cakes can be ordered in over 20 different fillings, ranging from cream cheese to black forest.
3. Meche’s Donut King
Meche’s may be king of donuts, but the king cakes are the real hidden gem here. They’ve been doing it since the ’70s and have become Cajun Country’s favorite for king cakes during Mardi Gras season.
4. Keller’s Bakery
Keller’s Bakery is a local landmark for the Lafayette area, having been open since 1929. Their homemade danish pastry recipe dates back over 120 years, and you can order yours with just about any flavor you could want.
5. Ambrosia Bakery
If you’re in the Baton Rouge area, you’ll want to snag one of these tasty king cakes. They come in an assortment of flavors ranging from pecan praline to traditional cinnamon - and you’ll be loving every bite you take.
6. Poupart Bakery
This authentic French bakery in Lafayette has been delighting locals since 1967, and their king cakes are nothing short of legendary. You'll have a tough time choosing from the different flavor options offered, but the classic French style is a universal favorite.
7. Dong Phuong
Ask anyone in the Greater New Orleans Area who has the best king cakes, and at least one person will shout out Dong Phuong. Their king cakes are certainly top of the list, the perfect light and fluffiness to chomp into.

This New Orleans bakery has been around for over 50 years, and they’re certainly baking up some of the best king cakes in the Crescent City.
10. Randazzo’s
It’s hard to mention king cakes and not mention Randazzo’s. They came in strong to the king cake game in 1992 and have been a favorite ever since. People will wait in long lines to get their Randazzo king cake for the year, and it’s worth it!
