The Decadent Chicken and Waffles At Café Amelie In Louisiana Will Have Your Mouth Watering In No Time
Café Amelie in New Orleans offers a romantic dining experience with standout chicken and waffles and a lush courtyard.
It’s no secret that you can find amazing food in New Orleans. While most attention goes toward the local Creole and Cajun dishes, you can also find amazing chicken and waffles, and Café Amelie is the place to get them. This romantic French Quarter restaurant serves brunch and dinner, as well as specialty cocktails.
Café Amelie is named after Amelie Miltenberger, the mother of the first American Princess of Monaco, who was born in 1858 in a townhouse next to what is now the restaurant.
Let’s start with the chicken and waffles.
Their chicken is oven roasted and the dish is topped with sausage gravy for an extra decadent version of this popular dish.
You’ll find plenty of other dishes to like too.
The brunch menu focuses on sandwiches, soups, and salads. Of course, you can find local cuisine as well, such as gumbo, shrimp and grits, and a Cajun catfish sandwich.
The prices go up a little bit for dinner, but the menu shifts to elevated entrees including seafood, pasta, and a few Cajun and Creole flourishes.
They also have dessert!
One of the more outstanding features of Café Amelie is the lush courtyard, which serves as a shady respite from the New Orleans heat in the summer.
The courtyard is also gorgeous at night for a romantic dinner.
The interior of the restaurant is also gorgeous, with chandeliers, exposed brick walls, and comfortable chairs to set the mood for a fancy night out.
Nestled just two blocks from Jackson Square, Café Amelie and its chicken and waffles are a perfect excuse to splurge while you’re in New Orleans. To learn more about the menu and hours of operation, check out the restaurant’s website. We also suggest making a reservation.
