The Restaurant In New Orleans That Was Named One Of The Best In The World
Shaya in New Orleans is a world-renowned Mediterranean restaurant known for its unique Israeli-influenced dishes and cozy dining atmosphere.
New Orleans is filled with incredible places to eat, there's no doubt about it. But if you are looking for a restaurant that is truly one of the best in the world, Shaya is the place to go. Shaya is found on 4213 Magazine St. and was recently named one of the best restaurants in the world by Conde Nast Traveler magazine. Let's explore this special place!
Shaya was opened by Elon Shaya, who worked in close partnership for many years with John Besh, most notably at the restaurant Domenica.
Shaya was opened as a Mediterranean restaurant, highly influenced by Elon's Israeli roots.
The gorgeous dining room offers a rare mix of upscale and relaxed.
The tables are close enough to each other that you can feel cozy and close with the diners near you--but far enough away to make an intimate dining experience easy to have.
Shaya has created a menu that allows for the best of both worlds when it comes to small plates and large plates.
They have an incredible selection of hummus plates, pictured here, that offer a huge variety of world flavors.
Paired with their freshly baked pita bread that is made in house, you really can't go wrong.
Some of my favorites include the lamb ragu hummus and the curried fried cauliflower hummus.
Once you settle in for your main course, you will not be disappointed. They offer some classic Israeli cuisine in unique forms, like the shrimp shakshouka pictured here.
This unique dish includes chermoula, parsnips, spicy chilies, tomato, egg and is truly delicious.
So the next time that you are on Magazine St., consider stopping by Shaya.
It's a truly unique restaurant with a lot to offer everyone in the greater New Orleans area.
