One Of The Largest Restaurants In Louisiana Has 14 Dining Rooms And An Unforgettable Menu
Antoine’s in New Orleans is one of the oldest family-run restaurants in the country, known for its historic dining rooms and iconic dishes.
One of the many great things about Louisiana is that our restaurants tend to have a long shelf life. There are countless restaurants peppered around the state that have been serving delicious food for decades, most of them still run by the same families. That’s certainly the case with this one particular restaurant in Louisiana. While we’re not 100% positive it’s the largest restaurant in the state, you’d have a hard time finding another restaurant with as many dining rooms as Antoine’s has.
Antoine’s has been a cornerstone of New Orleans restaurants since it opened its doors back in 1840.
It’s one of the oldest restaurants in the state and is the oldest family-run restaurant in the country. That’s right, this historic landmark is still family-owned and operated!
Known for creating iconic dishes like eggs sardou, pompano en papillote, and oysters Rockefeller, Antoine’s has certainly had a hand in the culinary landscape of not just New Orleans, but the entire country.
Often imitated but never duplicated, popular dishes like oysters Rockefeller and eggs sardou are regular staples of menus everywhere.
It may be hard to tell from the outside, but Antoine’s boasts 14 dining rooms.
The main dining room is for daily use, with the other rooms available for private dining, events, weddings, and more.
Each one of the dining rooms has its own unique design and backstory.
Pictured above is the Capitol Room, also known as the Roy Alciatore Room, named because the wooden panels on the walls were taken from the Old State Capitol in Baton Rouge.
One of our favorites is the Mystery Room.
Legend has it that this room earned its name after Prohibition. During that time, there used to be a hidden door in the women's restroom where you could walk through to get yourself a coffee cup, except it was alcohol. If you were asked where you received it, the response was, "it's a mystery to me."
Antoine's private dining rooms can seat anywhere from 14-300 guests.
So no matter how large or small your party is, there's a room at Antoine's to accommodate you.
No matter where you're seated, one thing is for sure: you'll never forget a meal at Antoine's.
There's a reason they've stood the test of time!
