Every once in awhile we come across a place in Kentucky that seems too good to be true. When we heard that a local circus was combining forces with a Kentucky brewery and this would all be housed in a historic building that was desperate for restoration, naturally there was a bit of skepticism. But now that Bircus Brewing Company has had its grand opening and is ready to entertain the public, you'll agree that this circus brewery in Kentucky is the most unique place you'll visit this year.
The historic river town of Ludlow, Kentucky is no stranger to the world of entertainment. Ludlow Lagoon was a popular amusement park for years before closing officially in 1918, and the town has basically been sitting quietly ever since. Recently, there's been many efforts to restore the energy of Ludlow and a big part of that has happened thanks to Circus Mojo.
Circus Mojo has hosted a variety of events, camps, and classes over the past decade, but it's their recent endeavor that is really turning heads. They've renovated and restored the historic Ludlow Theatre, and inside you'll now find Bircus Brewing Co. — an entertaining destination that serves up great drinks and eye-catching circus acts.
Bircus (pronounced BEERcus), began as an idea in Belgium, but it's now right here in the Bluegrass State. Ludlow's version has been brewing their own beer and planning to combine it with the excitement of Circus Mojo. This idea has now taken shape.
Bircus Brewing Co. recently celebrated its grand opening and plenty of eager guests were able to hang out, sip on a drink, and watch impressive circus acts, all under one roof.
While there are many local breweries throughout Kentucky and even very close to Bircus, this one wins the prize as most unique — and also most entertaining. In addition to the circus acts, they also host live music and other events — and even more exciting things are in the works.
The brewery is open every day of the week, aside from Monday, and there is always something fun going on inside. As you try the beer or other drinks (they have non-alcoholic options too), expect to see acts such as juggling clubs, fire breathing, hula hooping, walkng on kegs, and even trapeze and aerial silk artists.
There are also many themes throughout the week that you'll want to check out. Go vintage with "Vinyl Night" on Tuesdays, or try trivia and food trucks on Thursdays. Visit the brewery's website, linked below, for all of the details.
